One of the world's largest mosques with spectacular ocean-front architecture, intricate mosaics, and the tallest minaret in Morocco. Non-Muslim visitors can join guided tours.
Standing dramatically over the Atlantic Ocean, the Hassan II Mosque is Casablanca's most iconic landmark and one of the largest mosques in the world. Completed in 1993, the mosque showcases extraordinary Moroccan craftsmanship, from hand-carved marble and cedar wood to intricate zellige tilework. Its 210-metre minaret, the tallest in Africa, dominates the city skyline and can be seen from many points along the coast. Unlike most mosques in Morocco, the Hassan II Mosque welcomes non-Muslim visitors through guided tours, offering a rare opportunity to experience its vast prayer hall, retractable roof and ocean-facing location. A visit provides both architectural insight and a deeper understanding of Morocco's cultural and religious heritage.
